When Cade Lawson sent for his mail order bride, Maggie O'Malley, he didn't know what to expect. He and his twin sons needed a woman in their lives, the babes a mother to take the place of their dead mamma and he needed a woman to love.
Maggie was anxious about becoming a mail order bride, marrying a man she'd never met, but once she laid eyes on Cade and his twin sons, she knew that this Thanksgiving was going to be the best she'd ever had.
"Tastes like my mamma used to make. It's good. Can we eat now? I bet you are hungry and tired. You can take a little nap if you want and I'll do up the dishes."
"No need for that. I'm tired, but I'm too excited to rest." She smiled as he came over and took hold of her hand. His blue eyes were so beautiful. It was like looking into the sky on a clear day. His hands were large, warm, and strong.
"Do you think you will like it here and are you happy with me?"
"Oh, yes! You are so handsome and I can tell you are a gentle man at heart. Your letters portrayed that too. I hope you're happy with me. I know I can be bossy sometimes and probably shouldn't have chased you right off, but I wanted to have time to get to know the babes."
"Can I kiss you, Maggie?"
She sucked in a breath. "Kiss me?" Her heart felt like it was going to jump out of her chest.
"We need to practice before the ceremony. At least once."
Maggie's breath caught in her throat as he reached gently around her waist and pulled her close. He was a big man, but her body fit perfectly against his. She felt the hammering of his heart against her chest and knew he must be as apprehensive as she was. When he lowered his head and captured her lips with his, she felt her stomach flutter in anticipation. His lips were hungry and she melted against him, content when his arms slipped around her and held her close.
"Maggie," he whispered, releasing her. "I've waited a long time to do that. I knew we suited from our letters. Was it the same for you?"
"Yes," she gasped.
